“Thus says the Lord: ‘To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose things that please me and hold fast my covenant, I will give in my house and within my walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.'”
There is a unique relational sacrifice that life-long singles are forced to make. They don’t have the privilege or responsibility of experiencing the profound joys and challenges of marriage, and they miss out on the celebration and intense sanctification that comes through child-bearing and child-rearing. Yet, the Lord God promises that their covenant-faithfulness in the midst of such sacrifice will be rewarded with an eternal legacy more enriching than the joys of marriage and children. It may seem hard to imagine something greater than those two realities, but the Lord rewards those who earnestly seek Him, no matter what their circumstances might be. Whatever our lot, may the Lord teach us to hope in His promises as we practice longsuffering and seek a spiritual legacy that has no end! Let us expend our lives wisely as the Lord gives opportunity according the gracious means that He has provided through Christ…
Let us rejoice in the Lord always, and seek to be faithful to His covenant in all things–whether marriage or singleness.
